What do I need to bring with me when I come to purchase a permit?

You need to know the vehicle registration number, make and body type.

If you are a visiting fellow, ANU affiliate, casual staff member or non-ANU employee you need to bring a letter of appointment advising your fortnightly work hours and length of engagement. The letter for Visiting Fellows must also advise if their appointment is Honorary.

Can I buy two permits?

No. Permits may be transferred between vehicles with the same owner using the electrostatic film supplied with the permit.

Can I park with a disabled permit on campus?

Yes, the same conditions of use apply on campus as in the ACT for disabled spaces/time limited and pay and display areas.

How do I change my vehicle registration details?

You can do this online by logging on to ANUBIS

Can I give my permit to a friend?

No. The permit is for the sole use of the person to whom it has been issued and may be transferred between vehicles. It is university policy not to allow the transfer of a permit, either by sale or exchange to any other person.

Does the ANU have restricted parking?

What do I do if someone is parked in my reserved bay in the Parking Station?

Contact ANU Security on 61252249 (select 2 as auto select option) and advise your parking station and bay number – you will be advised of an alternative bay in which to park. It is an offence to park in someone else’s reserved bay.

Can I pass my reserved bay on to my friend?

No. Parking spaces are reserved solely for the person paying for the space and, as with permits, are not transferable.

How can I get a replacement permit/parking station access card if I lose the original?

You need to complete a Statutory Declaration http://info.anu.edu.au/Policies/_CFO_DFBS/Forms/Statutory_Declaration.asp advising the circumstances of the loss of the permit/access card - a $22 replacement fee applies.

Why can’t I find somewhere to park on campus?

Demand is at its highest after 8:30am during semester. There is usually some parking available at the periphery of the campus. Check the parking map (provide link) to see if another parking area will serve your needs.

How many parking spaces are there on campus?

There are over 6000 spaces in total. However, the fact that a staff member or student purchased a permit does not guarantee a parking space unless they purchase a dedicated space in a multi story carpark. Studies conducted by the University regarding the ratio of parking spaces to permits issued, indicate that, due to the turn over of motor vehicles during the day, there is always parking space available on Campus. Of course, this does not mean the space will necessarily be near your destination and consequently, when you arrive after 8:30am, or attempt to move your vehicle during the day, you may be required to park your vehicle on the periphery of the University grounds.

What are your business hours?

The Transport and Parking Office is open Monday to Friday 9:00am-4:30pm except on Public and University holidays.

Will I be charged any added fees while my Application for Withdrawal is being considered?

No, the infringement is put on hold until a decision is made. You will then be given a minimum of 10 days from the date of the reply, in which to pay

What do I do if I wasn’t the driver/owner of the vehicle when the Parking Infringement Notice was issued?

Complete a Statutory Declaration advising the name and address of the driver/owner at the time of the offence and forward to Parking Administration, John Yencken Building, Sullivans Creek Road, ANU ACT 0200

What do I do if I didn’t receive the PIN?

By law, in the ACT an infringement notice is deemed to have been issued when a parking infringement notice has been placed on a vehicle by a parking inspector. If you were not the driver of the vehicle at the time the infringement was issued, which may explain why you did not receive the infringement, you can complete a Statutory Declaration nominating the driver and their address. This office will then contact that person advising them of their liability for the infringement.
