Working or Studying from Home

Working or studying from home is becoming increasingly easy and lets you avoid transport hassles altogether. This is a good work option for occasional times when you may need to be at home for other reasons, or when the relative quiet of home may help you work on that report more effectively.

  • Email can be accessed over a home internet connection.
  • ANU internal-only webpages and electronic journals can be accessed through the reverse proxy service.
  • For some staff it may be possible to connect to your area's file server over a home internet connection.
  • If you have voicemail on your campus phone, you can check your messages from home (or any other phone):
    • Call 6125 3333 (the voice messaging system)
    • Press # to indicate you are a user
    • Enter your mailbox number (your extension number)
    • Enter your password followed by #

For assistance with accessing resources from off-campus talk to your local IT support officer.

For staff: Formal working-from-home arrangements need to be approved by your area management, and should include an OHS assessment of your work space.
