Timely Tredlies Departmental Bicycle Program
As a part of the ANU Environmental Management Plan 2003-2008, ANUgreen aims to reduce the environmental impact of intra-campus travel (strategy 11.4) and promote diversity in transport choice (strategy 11.9). The bicycle fleet established in 2006 addresses both these aims.
The ‘Timely Tredlies’ program provides staff of various interested departments with access to a bicycle for intra-campus travel, as a healthy, efficient and hassle free alternative to using a fleet motor vehicle.
The Timely Tredlies program currently consists of 62 bikes, housed in various areas of the ANU, including one at the university's Mt Stromlo. Areas include research schools, administration units and facilities management areas.
Staff are able to book the bicycles in the same way as they book University vehicles. Booking sheets look the same as those used for booking motor vehicles and are placed in the same location.
The bicycles are an excellent way to travel round the campus quickly, easily, healthily, and parking hassle free!
The bicycles are new TREK mountain bikes and come equipped with the following:
- Bike
- Trouser clips
- Secure D- lock
- Puncture repair kit
- Helmet (two sizes)
- Bike pump
- Pannier (and rack)
- Cycle computer
- Drink bottle cage
- Drink bottle
- Information and booking folder
Staff are able to book their area bicycle in same way they currently book fleet vehicles.
What areas are eligible for a Timely Tredley?
All areas across ANU are able to request a bicycle. Please note that we may or may not be able to provide you with one immediately.
